Mission Leadership Council at the Mission Home
Our group of Zone Leaders came Thursday late afternoon!
Instead of our usual team dinner where I provide ingredients, divide them into teams, and let them cook....we decided to give each individual a certain amount of money. Some enveloped had very little and some had more than others. Essentially no one had the same amount. We sent them off to the store to buy food with only a few conditions: first, the food had to be brought back to the mission home for consumption, they had only one hour to return, and we would eat together at 6:30 PM. The hope was that the missionaries would work as small teams, but also work as a team whole, and share by either pooling their money together, or at least making food for the entire group.
Teams started coming back to cook.
Elders Diehl, Beck, Lowe, Legas, Jewkes, Hicks
Another team!
Elders DePriest, Jantjies, Dos Santos, Harris
Elders Legas, Lowe, and Beck think they've got a great menu planned.
Will these teams come together as a whole and share?
Aprons for all!
The Elders don't mind the aprons.
President Thompson's mom will be with us for a few weeks. We are thrilled to have her.
Elder Legas has a good thing going!
Elder Reed is making German Pancakes.
Elder Mnisi and Elder Harris waiting for their food to cook.
Elder Fullmer and Elder Ottley waiting for food to bake.
Gathering to say the blessing on the food! I'm still not sure if they are going to share with everyone, or if their labors are for each his own?!
Elder Simaylane
It looks like 2-4 shared their money and food. Not sure if this was a good team building exercise or not? The hope was that they would all pool their money, and help each other out, and share!
A custard and fruit dish!
We discussed how this team building exercise was applicable to missionary work. Some of the conclusions were: Some are given a lot and some are given very little, and no one is exactly the same, but it doesn't mean we are different from our Heavenly Father. Also, it's sometimes is good to share with your neighbor!
It was a fun evening and building evening!
