Weavers of Lesotho

We visited a group of weavers in Lesotho! Not only did we see some amazing tapestries, but we were entertained.

The building where the weavers work is made entirely of soda pop cans!

 The inside wall.

 Everyone loves Nicole!

This amazing tapestry is of Joseph Smith's first vision! They put a sketch behind the yarn and weave using the drawing as a guide! Amazing!

This woman pulls bunches of lamps wool from a bag, brushes it, and spins the yarn.

These women are master artists in weaving tapestries!

Before leaving, these women broke into song and dance. In their native language they sang us a blessing, or religious song as we departed. Amazing!

Members of Lesotho are Inspirational

Some of the members in Lesetho.

President Thompson interviewed this man to receive the Melchizedek priesthood. After answering a series of questions, President Thompson asked him to read the oath of the priesthood found in the Doctrine & Covenants. When President asked if he would read it, the brother asked, "which verse?" President replied, "I believe it begins with verse 33". The brother began reciting word for word verse 33. "Shall I tell you verse 34?" the man asked and then gave that verse word for word. This elder was sustained on Sunday!

 Sweet faces!

The Makutoane's
President Thompson asked Brother Makutoane if he reads the scriptures everyday. And then asked if he holds Family Home Evening. The brother answered "everyday". Upon further inquiry, President discovered that this family does indeed have Family Home Evening everyday where they invite their non-member friends and acquaintances. As a result, they have helped baptize many. They brought three investigators to this conference as well. The Makutoane's said they are having a competition on who can baptize the most. Right now, the wife said that her husband is winning, but only because he has more friends than her! Inspirational!

 The Young Single Adults!

The sister on the right is the District Primary President. She spoke in the womens auxiliary training meeting and did a wonderful job!

Lesetho's First District Conference

It was such a privilege to be part of Lesetho's first District Conference. Such beautiful people here!

This choir sang beautifully. I love that the singing throughout South Africa and Lesetho is A Capella.

Strong Women

I'm always amazed at the women carrying things on their heads, plus some carry a baby on their back at the same time! So awesome!

Dinner & Testimonies

 Dinner with our new elders!

Moving into the living room for testimonies and mission assignments.

Both elders are assigned to serve in the country of Lesotho! This is a fast growing area.

 Elder Adams being silly!

Elder Mashava loves the apron with our grandsons names.

Letting mom know he is finally in Durban!

The elders get to write a quick email saying they've arrived.

Office Instruction

The elders fill out forms and get instruction on cars and phones.

Elder Sorensen takes the elders for a test drive. They drive on the left side of the road in South Africa.

Temple Site

Stopping at the temple site after we pick up missionaries is becoming a tradition!

 Our newest elders are awesome!

The workers are beginning to recognize us. We are frequent visitors!
